Pacific Islands on the Frontline of Climate Change

The New Zealand Embassy and Brot für die Welt invite you to a screening of the documentary Subject to Change followed by a panel discussion about the challenges of climate change in the Pacific.

“Subject to Change” tells the personal stories of Pacific communities living on the frontline of climate change. It is a beautifully shot and moving exploration of how climate change is affecting peoples whose lives are based around the ocean but who are now faced with rising seas, extreme weather and tidal events.

After the film, our panellists will discuss approaches to climate change in the Pacific: How can industrialised countries support Pacific communities? And how can we better include Pacific perspectives in our policy making?

The movie and discussion will be in English. German subtitles as well as interpretation English-German will be provided.

The event is part of the Diplomacy for Sustainability Week in Berlin, coordinated by the Federal Foreign Office from May 29th to June 6th 2019.
